Crafting Educated Diverse Enthusiastic Craft Beer Communities

Explore, learn, and thrive in the world of craft beer...

Who We Are?

Black and Brew Chicago is a charitable nonprofit empowering underrepresented communities in the food and beverage industry. Through dynamic outreach, hands-on education, and career-building opportunities, we’re opening doors for new voices to thrive and succeed in the world of craft beer and beyond.

Drink Good Beer. Meet New Friends. Promote Diversity!

"We make up only 3% and we are working with various organizations to increase diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) within the craft beer industry.”

Meet the Founder

Cicerone Program Certified Beer Server (CBS) and Craft Beer Educator

Mickey Bryant is a Cicerone Program Certified Beer Server (CBS), craft beer educator and speaker.  She has been enjoying craft beer for over 20 plus years and has 20 plus years’ experience in corporate training development, design, and delivery. She has co-hosted the Beer Diversity University four-part import beer series and organizes onsite, online and private tastings, tours, and pairings.  Additionally, she has facilitated cultural sensitivity trainings in collaboration with the Illinois Craft Brewers Guild.

Mickey has served as guest speaker at local and national conferences, participated as a panelist in craft beer education discussions, and has been featured in various industry news articles, blogs, and podcasts.

Recognizing that educating the consumer would be the most effective path to creating a more diverse craft beer community, Mickey developed the Consumer-Focused Educational Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Strategy Model.  The model includes course development and delivery, collaborations with local breweries to host learning experiences to educate underrepresented demographics on craft beer, and a scholarship award program.  The model has proven to be successful and, as a result, over the past five years, Black and Brew Chicago, Inc. has expanded to include Black and Brew Cleveland, Black and Brew Youngstown, Black and Brew Delaware, and Black and Brew Indianapolis chapter.
